American artist and leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. Unique gelatin silver print taken by Andy Warhol at Jerry Hall's birthday party July 3, 1980 at Studio 54. In the photograph from left to right are Whitney Tower, Jr., Jerry Hall, Keith Richards, and Mick Jagger. They are sitting at a table and Hall has a birthday cake in front of her and a pile of flowers on the table. Warhol was known to frequent Studio 54 with his camera, a quiet and meticulous observer of the social scene, searching out subject matter for his art work. Warhol did silk screen portraits of Hall, Jagger, and Richards. This photograph measures 8" x 10". Executed in 1980 and dated July 3, 1980 on verso. Stamped with Estate of Andy Warhol and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. stamps on verso. Comes with a color copy of a Certificate of Provenance from Christies, with a description and image of this photograph and a second photograph by Warhol which was included in the same lot by Christies. This work is part of a database maintained by Christie's to substantiate provenance in the future and supply relevant information to the Andy Warhol Catalogue Raisonné.
