Folio-over 12"-15" tall. Pictorial wrappers. With large black and white photographic panels on the front and rear covers. Photographs and foreword by the gifted Avedon, with a background essay by Laura Wilson. Magnificent collection of b&w photographic portraits completed with the support of the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. Unpaginated but about 184 pp. with 114 large format duotone photographs printed on high quality paper. Designed by Marvin Israel and Elizabeth Avedon. Portraits of blue collar westerners, captured, with respect and dignity. This book is said to be Avedon's best. He was making an attempt at getting away from his glamorous celebrity photographer image with these portraits. Nicely printed. Very Good. Covers have a few soil spots. Fingerprints near the spine. Scratches visible in the light. Small pink stain to rear cover. Tiny right angle crease to lower right hand corner front cover. Binding excellent. Text is clean. Photos themselves are very good plus with no marks. No creases or tears to the foldouts which is often the case.
An incredible book. A spectacular SIGNED copy.
