Auction FAQ

How do I place a bid?
You can either call, fax, or email in your bids. If you email your bid, a confirmation email will be sent to let you know your bid has been received.
When does the auction start?
Bidding begins on an auction as soon as you receive your catalog.
If I call, will you tell me what the high bid is on any lot?
Yes. We will tell you the necessary bid on any lot.
After I place a bid, can I withdraw my bid?
No bids may be withdrawn at any time.
If another bidder bids above my bid, will you inform me?
We will do our best to contact you to let you know if you have been outbid.
How do I know the autograph is genuine?
We check the authenticity of every autograph that we offer for sale. This is done by Max Rambod himself, an expert in the field, who has done authentication work for many years. We also provide a certificate of authenticity on every item we sell. We are a member of all respected associations in the autograph field: PADA, UACC, IADA and the Manuscript Society.
Can I get additional information or description on a lot?
You may call up until the day before the auction to receive any additional information we can provide on a particular lot. During the day of the auction, we can not guarantee that we will be able to provide you with additional information.
Can I bid less than the minimum bid?
No, this is the lowest bid we will accept on the lot.
What does the estimate represent?
The estimates for each lot are our opinion of current market value. Estimates should not be relied upon as a representation or prediction of actual selling prices.
What is the buyer’s premium?
A buyer’s premium is an extra percentage added to the wining bid for all auction items. Our current buyer’s premium is 20% but may fluctuate as Max sees fit. Nearly all auction houses charge auction premium on their items. In addition to wining bid and buyer’s premium, the winning bidder must also pay shipping and insurance. If the buyer is within California, they will also be charged sales tax.
How do I know if I won a lot?
We will notify every successful bidder of their winning bids by mail and email. If no email was provided, we will also fax the bidder their invoice. Please allow 2 days for auction results to be compiled.
